Root canals are one of the most common dental procedures performed — well over 14 million done every year. If you suffer from a visible injury or swelling of the tooth, sensitivity to temperature or pain in the tooth and gums, you might be a candidate for a root canal. This simple treatment can save your natural teeth and prevent the need for implants or bridges.
WHAT IS A ROOT CANAL?
At the center of your tooth is pulp. Pulp is a collection of blood vessels that helps to build the surrounding teeth. Infection of the pulp can be caused by trauma to the tooth, deep decay, cracks and chips or repeated dental procedures. If you experience any of these issues, we will most likely recommend a non-surgical root canal treatment to eliminate the diseased pulp. This injured pulp is removed and the root canal system is thoroughly cleaned and sealed. This therapy usually involves local anesthesia and may be completed in one or more visits depending on the treatment required. Success for this type of treatment occurs in about 90% of cases.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER TREATMENT?
Because we use local anesthesia to eliminate discomfort, you will be able to drive home after your treatment, and you probably will be comfortable returning to your normal routine. It is rare for patients to experience complications after routine endodontic treatment or microsurgery. If a problem does occur, however, we are available at all times to respond. To prevent further decay, continue to practice good dental hygiene. Our restorative dentist will decide on what type of restoration is necessary to protect your tooth. David and Associates endodontics has two state of the art small volume Cone Beam CT scanners. This allows us highly accurate 3-D radiographic images for the diagnosis, planning and treatment of endodontic disease. By being able to see your affected teeth in 3-D and the surrounding bone and sinus it dramatically increases the accuracy and precision in our diagnosis and treatment of your tooth.
Advanced Surgical Operating Microscopes
David & Associates utilizes high-powered surgical microscopes for Endodontic therapy. These microscopes allow the Endodontist to see in great detail blockages and other complexities in the treatment or retreatment of difficult root canals. It brings a level of precision, not previously available. We have invested in the highest quality precision surgical microscopes available.
Digital Imaging
WE ONLY USE DIGITAL X-RAYS. DIGITAL X-RAYS ALOWS DRAMATICALLY LESS RADIATION TO PATIENTS AND ARE MORE PRECISE THAN TRADITIONAL X-RAYS.
